Michael Grossman, Concertmaster
Michael Grossman has enjoyed a performance career as an orchestral player, chamber player, and soloist. He has held the position of concertmaster of several orchestras, including the Cape Cod Symphony, the Oregon Mozart Players, the Portland Chamber Orchestra, and the Portland Columbia Symphony. As a member and leader of the Bay Area string orchestra, Stratos, he has recorded the first classical CD to be produced on the Warner Brothers label. Michael was a founding member of the string Quartet “Metolius”, the resident string quartet at Oregon State University. In addition to years of performing throughout the Northwest, Michael has performed at the concert halls of New York, Boston, and at the White House. A New Jersey native, Michael has studied violin performance in New York, Boston, and Portland. His teachers have included Erick Friedman, Burton Kaplan, Roger Shermont, and Pierre d'Archambeau. A passionate teacher, he now lives in San Rafael, California, where he is Director of Strings at the Marin School of the Arts and maintains a private teaching studio.
